Traveling in Africa is a fascinating experience. Probably what makes this continent unique is the unbelievable number of children that live here.

Children happy and proud, joyful, sad, funny and curious. Children asking for presents, children asking for food, children offering smiles and astonishment. Children pretty and desperately poor. I do hope that these photos can transmit, even a little of bit, of the emotion of being among them.

The photos in these pages were shot during two long and beautiful trips in South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali and Senegal. Without the patience and the company of many friends these photos, simply, could not exist.

This album is dedicated to all children that I've met (and photographed) in towns and tiny villages. Children that with their smiles and their looks made me feel different and gave me the photos you'll find in these pages. childrenofafrica
